Puerto Rico, the 51st State?

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Out of nowhere, Democrats in congress are suddenly pushing a bill to make Puerto Rico the 51st state. What are reasonable Americans to think about this?

Here's what Andrew Breitbart's BigGovernment.com had to say:

There is a bill to make Puerto Rico a state. Again, they are trying to pull one over on us and on Puerto Ricans, who have consistently said they do not want to become a state. Read below for more information (from Eagle Forum). This was also discussed by Rep Tom Price on a conference call yesterday.

Please consider this:

* The U.S. would transform, overnight, into a bilingual nation. At least half of Puerto Ricans do not speak English, the language of our U.S. Constitution and founding documents. The Washington Times article, "Puerto Rican statehood," analyzes all the implications of adding a foreign language-speaking state to the Union.

* It would bring immediate demands for massive federal spending. The average income of Puerto Ricans is less than half that of our poorest state, and infrastructure and the environment are far below American standards. Puerto Rico has a population with a median national income of $17,741, nearly a third of that for the U.S.

* Puerto Rico is already a democracy. Despite the bill's deceptive title, Puerto Rico already has an elected government and exists as a self-governed commonwealth of the U.S.

* Statehood would give Puerto Rico more congressional representation than 25 of our 50 states! It would inevitably give Democrats two additional U.S. Senators and 6 to 8 additional Members of the House.

H.R. 2499 is stealth legislation designed to lead to the admission of Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico as the 51st state, thereby making us a de facto bilingual nation, like Canada. The U.S. Congress should not be forcing Puerto Ricans to vote on statehood, especially since the Puerto Rican people have rejected statehood three times since 1991!

No Member of Congress who describes himself as a limited government, fiscal conservative should be casting a YEA vote for H.R. 2499,as Puerto Rican statehood would cause an immediate increase in federal expenditures, particularly for taxpayer-funded welfare state services.

The Puerto Rican government is even playing hardball with it own people! Read this by Ann Shibler :

The United States House of Representatives is set to vote on H.R. 2499, the Puerto Rico Democracy Act, as early as this week. This bill would mandate a non-binding expression by the voters of Puerto Rico as to their wishes with regard to retaining their commonwealth status or becoming a state or becoming an independent nation, but in conjunction with other legislation already introduced inside Puerto Rico, the commonwealth status of the island could be eliminated as early as this year.

Three times in the past 43 years Puerto Ricans have voted against becoming the 51st state in the Union, the last time being 11 years ago. But this time the bill is rigged to eliminate the commonwealth option and grant either full statehood, or total independence. Sen. Jose Hernandez-Mayoral of the island's minority Popular Democratic Party said, "Behind this innocuous bill lies a fully thought out assault on Congress to designate the island the 51st state." "With the commonwealth option out of the ballot, statehood is finally, albeit crookedly, assured a victory."

Video: Democrat Senator's Emotional Racist Meltdown Againt Republicans

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Starts heating up at 20:40 -

"Race-based" rant

This man is obviously insane. When a Republican starts to question someone in a hearing, Kevin Parker launches into an emotional breakdown. Like the typical liberal, Kevin Parker alleges racism in an effort to silence any Republicans during a hearing. He goes overboard, however, ending up in a complete meltdown. Recently he attacked a reporter in a felony assault, and destroying the cameras of another reporter. He also violently attacked another woman, and allegedly punched a traffic cop in the face.

This man belongs in a padded cell, not in charge of our government.

National Art Education Association Holds Forum Promoting Obama's Socialism

Sunday, April 18, 2010

You remember that leaked audio that proved the Obama Administration pushed socialism into the National Endowment for the Arts? Well, here's the federal tax payer results:

Art Education and Social Justice: 2010 NAEA National Convention

The forum instructs public school teachers to promote the communist theory of social justice by treating "education as a political act... models of resistance- teaching as a form of activism." Teachers will raise such questions as childrens' sexuality, social class, race, American democracy, traditional means of knowledge production (whatever that could mean), difference as being divisive, dominance, and ignorance of our collective history and struggles. They will teach children to embrace equality, collective responsiblity, class, sexuality, difference, more possiblities, democracy, activism, and cultural relevance.

The promotional handout says they are doing this for President Barack Obama and Sonia Sotomayer, as they "reflect our ever shifting demographic. Our nation is truly questioning itself in order to discover and redefine who we are as a nation, what we believe in, and what needs to change.

This forum promoting socialism as the result of a White House briefing on May 12, 2009, according to the handout, "that was attended by variuos representatives of the current administration and more than 60 artists and creative organizers. All gathered were there to not only pledge their support for the arts and community organizing but also to begin a real dialogue on the issues of social justice and our nation's economic and emotional recovery. Joseph Reinstein, Deputy Social Secretary said, "The administration believes the arts play a critical role beyond art education in saying what a democracy is."

... Maxine Greene writes, "The arts will help disrupt the walls that obscue spheres of freedom."

This same Maxine Greene promotes "'socialist teachers in the creation of a working class consciousness' their hopes for "revolutionary educators being inthe forefront of a movement to create a unified class consciousness.'" more

The handout also quotes socialist Paulo Freire, who was a member of Brazil's communist Workers' Party and pretended to be anti-Communist to get funding for his radical programs:

"Education is always political. The teacher has to ask, what kinds of politics am I doing in the classroom. That is, in whose favor am I being a teacher." Either you are with us, or with them.

This forum will change the very foundation of public education:

NAEF funding supports a wide variety of professional activities, including promotion of art education as an integral part of the curriculum; establishment and/or improvement of art instruction in public and private K-16 schools; promotion of the teaching of art through activities related to the instructional process, curriculum, student learning, student assessment, classroom behavior, management, or discipline; purchase of art equipment and/or instructional resources; and research in art education. Additionally, the NAEF provides professional development scholarships.

Previews for some of the presentations at the forum show that they plan to build a rigid structure for propaganda, infiltrating the community, and indoctrinating the children. One session for developing "community advocacy groups" asks what will be the groups' recruitment methods, agenda, and mission.

A presention by Linda Scott explores the changing role of social media, from facebook and blogs to video and cell phones in our consumer society. These new methods of "listening, learning, and charing" will help "build your community", "attract new members", "improve your reputation", and "build member loyalty." She urges attendess to use tool likes twitter and facebook for "legislation and lobbying", to "promote association messages and points of view" and to "monitor web-based mentions (potive and nagative) of topics of interest to the association".

FAIL: Tea Party Infiltrators

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Cura and I could only spend about an hour at the Tea Party we attended, but it was enough to witness one Tea Party infiltrator who was wearing a gas mask and carrying a sign promoting gun violence get chased down by the police.

Despite all the hype of the Tea Party crashers causing mayhem, Tea Party organizers were ready and the crashers ended up looking rather silly.

Oh, and as for the idiot who put up the "Crash the Tea Party" website... He's currently on leave while his school district decides whether or not to fire him for using work hours and property to create the site. They aren't very happy at him for putting their school district in the public eye this way: Even the liberal parents who send their kids to that district in Oregon are complaining about his actions. National Day of Prayer Unconstitutional, Activist Judge Rules

Thursday, April 15, 2010

The National Day of Prayer, first called for by the Continental Congress in 1775, then again by Presidents such as John Adams and Abraham Lincoln, and finally instituted in a bill of Congress in 1952, has been struck down as unconstitutional by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb in Wisconsin as a violation of the "establishment clause" of the First Amendment.

Since when does "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." come to mean "No no no! We shall have no nation-wide praying here in America!" First of all, prayer is no "respecter" of any "establishment of religion." It is used by the vast majority of humans, of all faiths (and even non-faiths) in various manners, for the mutual benefit of all. I defy any detractors of prayer to show me which "establishment of religion" prayer is beholden to. Buddhists pray, Christians pray, Muslims pray, Pagans pray, Gaia worshipers pray, and even meditation is considered prayer by many. When the president invites Americans to pray for our nation's good, which one of these religions/philosophies are being unfairly promoted?

Secondly, how dare a measly federal judge rule that God has no place in our national dialogue! Who does she think she is? If she had bothered to acquaint herself with the contemporary writings of our founding fathers, it would be obvious to her that they never intended the first amendment to outlaw religious expression or even encouragement. Quite the contrary, they believed "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." (John Adams) By divorcing God from our country they are bringing about its downfall.

If this ruling stands, we will not only have lost another valuable piece of our nation's heritage to liberal political correctness, but also a crucial safeguard to our nation's moral footing.

Tax Day Tea Parties Tomorrow!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Tomorrow, April 15th, Tax Day, patriotic Americans around the country will be gathering together to protest the fiscal irresponsibility of our current government. If you can, I would highly recommend attending one for at least part of the day. The powers that be, local and national, are starting to get scared that their tax and spend party is about to get busted. Democrat congress(wo)men are announcing their retirements left and right rather than face their angry constituents for their gross misrepresentation of the People's interests. WE THE PEOPLE are gathering a storm for this November and we will take back our government!

Attend one of the 611 Tea Parties happening tomorrow!

If you can't make it in person, attend a virtual tea party in Sacramento, CA here.

Here's a video to get you excited:

Government Spending: How much are you paying for?

Despite a clear mandate from the people to curb government spending and promote new job growth through cut taxes, Obama and his Democrat politicians in Washington think they know better than us. With the price tags of the new bailouts, fundings, subsidies and programs sitting in the billions and trillions of dollars, it's hard to get a sense of how much they are really spending. Fox News is helping to put this into perspective by providing a calculator that, based on your income level, shows how much of these programs will be paid for by your own hard-earned money.

First, how much of the $389 billion bailout of the fraudulently run, government pseudo-corporations Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will you be covering?

How much of $109 billion TARP (Trouble Asset Relief Program) will you have to pay for?

How much will you be expected to cough up for the $890,023,850 in ear marks granted to Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Sen. Daniel K. Inouye (D-Hawaii)?

As you can see, the majority of liberals will not be upset about this unfair tax burden because they don't make enough to fit the higher income brackets that bear the majority of the tax burden. 86% of the federal taxes are paid by the highest 25% of income earners, 97% is paid by the top 50%! (source) It doesn't take a genius to realize that marxist dream of redistribution of wealth is alive and well in America when the upper and middle classes of America are paying for all of the handouts and welfare given to the lower classes, the majority of which are able-bodied and capable of earning more but refuse to.

China Gives Iran Nuclear Supplies

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Our friends, communist China:

WSJ- "An Iranian firm closely linked to Tehran's nuclear program acquired special hardware for enriching uranium, despite sanctions intended to keep such equipment out of Iran, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.

In recent weeks, the officials said, an Iranian procurement firm obtained critical valves and vacuum gauges made by a French company that until December was owned by U.S. industrial conglomerate Tyco International. The French and U.S. firms said they knew nothing of the case.

Western authorities are still struggling to understand precisely how the valves and gauges in question reached Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency is investigating the matter, according to a Vienna-based diplomat, and Western intelligence agencies also are investigating, The Wall Street Journal has learned.

A Jan. 14 email that triggered the IAEA investigation alleged that the valves moved through an intermediary representing a Chinese company based near Shanghai...

The IAEA and Western authorities began looking into the matter after the IAEA received the Jan. 14 email, with the subject line "For Iran Inspectors," alleging that illicit goods were being sent to Iran in a "careful and secret" way, according to a person familiar with the email.

The email named JMT and alleged the firm acquired the valves from an intermediary named Vikas Kumar Talwar representing Zheijiang Ouhai Trade Corp. of China, a subsidiary of the Wenzhou-based Jinzhou Group.
