FAIL: Tea Party Infiltrators

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Cura and I could only spend about an hour at the Tea Party we attended, but it was enough to witness one Tea Party infiltrator who was wearing a gas mask and carrying a sign promoting gun violence get chased down by the police.

Despite all the hype of the Tea Party crashers causing mayhem, Tea Party organizers were ready and the crashers ended up looking rather silly.

Oh, and as for the idiot who put up the "Crash the Tea Party" website... He's currently on leave while his school district decides whether or not to fire him for using work hours and property to create the site. They aren't very happy at him for putting their school district in the public eye this way: Even the liberal parents who send their kids to that district in Oregon are complaining about his actions. Sadly the "nobody is raising taxes right now" message is the one that most people are hearing from the media. They only mention income tax, but they're completely neglecting to take into account that higher taxes on businesses and products inevitably raises taxes for everybody. And just wait until cap and tax hits...

And "Christ was a Socialist?" Seriously? If I remember correctly Christ told us not to steal and not to envy the wealth of others, but rather to give charitably and love our neighbors. That's not socialism. It's the exact opposite.

I thought the "Stop Whining, Pay Your Taxes" one was hilarious because these tea partiers are the ones paying the taxes for all those liberal welfare recipients.

@TKZ I believe "Christ is a socialist" refers to the fact that Christ and his disciples lived communally kept no "private property;" (Acts 4:32-5:11 "Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.") Christ also emphasized that the poor are blessed over and above the rich (Luke 6:20), and that it was in fact absurd to think of a rich man getting in to heaven. (Matthew 19:24) Though the idea of socialism obviously didn't exist back then, Jesus definitely was not into accumulating and refusing to share private wealth.
