J. Scott Armstrong from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania wants to bet Al Gore he can more accurately predict the temperature over the next 10 years, by using a "no change" model, than the forecasters using the "CO2 global warming" model can. The money will go to charity. So far, Al Gore has declined to take this bet.

Scott Armstrong of the Wharton School challenges Al Gore $20,000 that he will be able to make more accurate forecasts of annual mean temperatures than those that can be produced by climate models. Scott Armstrong’s forecasts will be based on the naive (no-change) model; that is, the forecasts would be the same as the most recent year prior to the forecasts. The money will be placed in a Charitable Trust to be established at a brokerage house. The charity designated by the winner will receive the total value in the fund when the official award is made at the annual International Symposium on Forecasting in 2018.
An Intrade market was set up so anyone can wager on the outcome of this challenge.
There is an Intrade market for the proposition “Gore vs Armstrong”. Betting Armstrong to win costs you $62 right now (to win $100); taking the Gore side of the bet would win $100 on only $38 at risk – over 150% profit! Given the overwhelming scientific consensus behind anthropogenic global warming, how can you possibly say “no” to this proposition?
You can see from this chart, the market is betting Al Gore is wrong.

UN: Children 5+ Have Right to Know About Masturbation

The United Nations Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared that sex education is an entitled right to children of all countries and cultures starting at the age of five. And not just any sex education. Check out their idea of age-appropriate sex-ed:

Under the U.N.’s voluntary sex-ed program, kids just 5-8 years old will be told that “touching and rubbing one’s genitals is called masturbation” and that private parts “can feel pleasurable when touched by oneself.”

Now progressing to age 9, children will learn about “positive and negative effects of ‘aphrodisiacs,” the ideas of “homophobia, transphobia and abuse of power,” that “both men and women can give and receive sexual pleasure” and the “definition and function of orgasm.”

Level three, or ages 12-15 suggests the discussion of “access to safe abortion and post-abortion care” and the “use and misuse of emergency contraception.”

By 15, adolescents should be exposed “advocacy to promote the right to and access to safe abortion,” according to the guidelines.

The report states, “abstinence is only one of a range of choices available to young people,” the authors describe abstinence-only programs as “fear-based” and “designed to control young people’s sexual behavior by instilling fear, shame, and guilt.” [Source]

A revised Democrat bill would give President Obama the power to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks. This means he could shut down access or exert control over Internet content. (link)

I can't wait to hear cyber rights hacker groups like anonymous and Why We Protest have a field day with this.

Obama's Healthcare Is Unconstitutional- The General Welfare Question?

Radical liberals have been using the constitution as a tool for pushing their socialized healthcare, saying: "those who believe the Constitution does not include health care reform, I suggest that they re-read the preamble to the Constitution."

They are talking about the general welfare clause, and "nothing is more crucial to the general welfare of American citizens than their health."

The entire general welfare clause of the constitution reads: "...in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty..." This is the preamble to the constitution and describes the entire purpose of that founding document.

Federal actions have been struck down by courts in the past if they fell out of this scope. The 1935 National Industrial Recovery Act and then the 1936 Agricultural Adjustment Act were invalidaded by the supreme court because they used a national tax to hand out crop-reduction payments and thus didn't provide for the welfare of everyone, only farmers.

In various rulings, the Court decided that "agriculture, manufacturing, construction, coal mining, and almost any form of economic activity" were "beyond the realm of Federal regulation."

My, how times have changed!

Obama and the others have argued, "Look at Roosevelt's New Deal! Roosevelt saved the world with his socialist proposals! And all that was for the general welfare!"

Well it was- Roosevelt said that the problems of the great depression "could not be met by merely local action." In Steward Machine Co. v. Davis, the Courts agreed, saying that the unemployment crisis "had become national in area and dimension," it was an issue states COULD NOT POSSIBLY deal with on their own. Furthermore, federal intervention was crucial "if the people were not to starve."

Let's make this clear: All national government action must 1. Benefit everyone, or 2. Solve a national crisis that states couldn't possibly solve, and 3. The crisis must be severe.

My, how times have changed!

I still pay money to the federal government and it goes back out as national food stamps even though this isn't really a crisis anymore. Now Obama wants me to pay for people's healthcare, even though states can deal with that issue just fine, even though it would benifit only a small portion of the population, even though it isn't a national crisis.

It is simply unconstitional for the Democrats to stray out of the scope of general welfare.

James Madison, the founder of the constition, wrote: "To take["general welfare"] in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators..."

"If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands; they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress.... Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America."

There is only one more step to go until absolute dictatorship: regulation of religion.

Turns out the only doctor who made this claim was Libayn, and he may not even have been ill!

The Medicare Argument: Get the Facts Straight

I read this comment on the HR3200 bill this morning and am hearing many more like it.

Medicare is BY FAR the most efficiently run health care system in the world. Their administration costs are well under 10%...compare that to over 50% for your private insurance plan
If you hear the left using this to justify a government single-payer or public option, a red flag should go off in your mind. Not only are the numbers themselves false, but it is a misleading statistic and those who quote it don't actually understand how it was determined.

Medicare administrative costs are actually HIGHER than those of private insurance, even considering costs that private companies must pay that don't apply to Medicare. Medicare patients usually have higher health care costs in general
so expressing administrative costs as a percentage of total costs gives a misleading picture. Administrative costs are incurred primarily on a fixed or per-beneficiary basis; this approach spreads Medicare's costs over a larger base of patient care cost i.e. their administrative costs per person would be divided by a larger number for patient care costs thus appearing lower.

The people quoting this have also not taken into account that
in the case of private insurance, administrative costs are measured by the difference between premiums collected and claims paid. The result is that this includes some costs that are not really "administrative."

Considering this, if the projected number of Americans on private insurance switch to a public option, an increase in administrative costs will be in the billions of dollars making Obama's plan far expensive and surely not "deficit neutral".

8. Okay, now, ... what if I were to tell you that Obama wants to dismantle talk radio through the imposition of a new "Fairness Doctrine." 9. What if I were to tell you that the Obama Justice Department is Doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. That the federal government wants to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban which would prohibit the sale of any type of firearm that requires the shooter to pull the trigger every time a round is fired. That Obama's Attorney General wants to eliminate the sale of virtually all handguns and ammunition, which most citizens choose for self-defense.

10. What if I were to tell you that the Obama plan is to eliminate states rights guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and give the federal government sweeping new powers over policies currently under the province of local and state governments and voted on by the people. That Obama plans to control the schools, energy production, the environment, health care, and the wealth of every US citizen.

11. What if I were to tell you that the president, the courts, and the federal government have ignored the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights and have seized powers which the founders of our country fought to restrict. That our last presidential election may have been our last truly free election for some time to come. That our next presidential election may look similar to the one recently held in Iran. (And maybe under review by ACORN.)

I know, I know what you will say, "That will never happen in America."

Catholic Church Speaks Out Against Health Care Reform Bill

[...]First and most important, the Church will not accept any legislation that mandates coverage, public or private, for abortion, euthanasia, or embryonic stem-cell research. We refuse to be made complicit in these evils, which frankly contradict what “health care” should mean. We refuse to allow our own parish, school, and diocesan health insurance plans to be forced to include these evils. As a corollary of this, we insist equally on adequate protection of individual rights of conscience for patients and health care providers not to be made complicit in these evils. A so-called reform that imposes these evils on us would be far worse than keeping the health care system we now have.

Second, the Catholic Church does not teach that “health care” as such, without distinction, is a natural right. The “natural right” of health care is the divine bounty of food, water, and air without which all of us quickly die. This bounty comes from God directly. None of us own it, and none of us can morally withhold it from others. The remainder of health care is a political, not a natural, right, because it comes from our human efforts, creativity, and compassion. As a political right, health care should be apportioned according to need, not ability to pay or to benefit from the care. We reject the rationing of care. Those who are sickest should get the most care, regardless of age, status, or wealth. But how to do this is not self-evident. The decisions that we must collectively make about how to administer health care therefore fall under “prudential judgment.”

Third, in that category of prudential judgment, the Catholic Church does not teach that government should directly provide health care. [...]

Fourth, preventative care is a moral obligation of the individual to God and to his or her family and loved ones, not a right to be demanded from society. [...]

The current House reform bill, HR 3200, does not meet the first or the fourth standard.[...] this bill circumvents the Hyde amendment (which prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for abortions) by drawing funding from new sources not covered by the Hyde amendment, and by creatively manipulating how federal funds covered by the Hyde amendment are accounted. It also provides a “public insurance option” without adequate limits, so that smaller employers especially will have a financial incentive to push all their employees into this public insurance. This will effectively prevent those employees from choosing any private insurance plans. This will saddle the working classes with additional taxes for inefficient and immoral entitlements. [...]

I encourage all of you to make you voice heard to our representatives in Congress. Tell them what they need to hear from us: no health care reform is better than the wrong sort of health care reform. Insist that they not permit themselves to be railroaded into the current too-costly and pro-abortion health care proposals. Insist on their support for proposals that respect the life and dignity of every human person, especially the unborn. And above all, pray for them, and for our country.

I’ll admit that I was curious about this video they’re promoting so I visited the site, which turns out to be Obama's official blog. As you might expect, it wasn’t about “Learning the Truth” by setting the record straight at all. Here is their first “truth” and why, according to the actual bill, it’s completely false.

1. Sarah Palin makes false claims about “death panels” in the proposal while there is no such panel listed in bill.

While the words “death panel” are obviously not included in the proposal, Sarah Palin’s description is absolutely correct.

First, Section 1233 of HR 3200 includes “Advanced Care Planning Consultation” for senior citizens that involves:

“(E) An explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice, and benefits for such services and supports that are available under this title.
A bit further down, a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant is given this power:
(B) The level of treatment indicated under subparagraph (A)(ii) may range from an indication for full treatment to an indication to limit some or all or specified interventions.”
And the bill DOES state that this will be done every 5 years or sooner depending on the patient’s condition. Section (3)(A) refers to the “5-year limitation under paragraph (1)”. If paragraph (1) wasn’t implying time limits, why is it referenced later as one?

Second, the purpose of the Comparative Effectiveness Research Council is to gather information about the effectiveness of medical treatments. Including the cost. Right off their site, it states under Prioritization Criteria that it will evaluate:
1. Potential Impact (based on prevalence of condition, burden of disease, variability in outcomes, and costs of care)”
In other words, it can decide whether each method of treatment provides enough of an improvement or outcome to justify its cost. An expensive procedure for an elderly patient may not be justified financially, especially if they have a “progressive” or “chronic” condition.

The Council also states on their homepage that it “will consider the needs of populations served by federal programs” in evaluating their data. Good of the whole, at the expense of individuals.

Looks like Sarah Palin nailed it while these guys need to look at the details of the bill they’re defending.

Obama Supports Overthrow of Defence of Marriage Act, Paving the Way for Federal Support of Same-Sex Marriage

NOM's President, Maggie Gallagher, asks a pretty good question: "Why has President Obama's Justice Department abruptly attempted to sabotage the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in federal court?"

Is there no justice for marriage?

Justice is supposed to be blind. And the Justice Department is supposed to do justice without regard to politics.

When Congress passed DOMA in 1996 with overwhelming bipartisan support, it laid out clear reasons why marriage deserves legal protection:

"At bottom, civil society has an interest in maintaining and protecting the institution of heterosexual marriage because it has a deep and abiding interest in encouraging responsible procreation and child-rearing."

As Maggie says, "This is not some kind of weird side argument drummed up by folks who don't like gay people. It has been at the heart of America's marriage tradition since the dawn of the Republic."

Dozens of courts have ruled that procreation is a key purpose of marriage -- long before anyone was thinking about gay marriage. A New Jersey judge in 1921 waxed pretty lyrical:"Lord Penzance has observed that the procreation of children is one of the ends of marriage. I do not hesitate to say that it is the most important object of matrimony, for without it the human race itself would perish from the earth."

Even in liberal states like New York, Washington, and Maryland, state supreme courts have ruled: Marriage is not discrimination, because unions of husband and wife really are different, and they serve the government interest in promoting responsible procreation in a special way. It's not discrimination to treat different relationships differently. It's common sense.

But Pres. Obama's Justice department, in a nakedly political move after political protests, speaking on behalf of you and me as the government of the United States, just told a federal court of law: "The government does not contend that there are legitimate government interests in 'creating a legal structure that promotes the raising of children by both of their biological parents' or that the government's interest in 'responsible procreation' justifies Congress's decision to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman."

"I couldn't believe it," one high-powered lawyer emailed me. "I mean, it's one thing for Jerry Brown to make an argument like that to the California courts. It's another thing for the United States Justice Department to do it."

What just happened? Maggie said it better than I could: "A loud interest group that helped fund President Obama's victory succeeded this week by belligerent protests in gaining a key shift in Justice Department legal arguments. ...President Obama is sabotaging DOMA while pretending to defend it in court, in order to please a core political interest group that donated money to support his campaign."

Let me make a few preliminary predictions about the short-term effects of Same Sex Marriage:

  1. In gay-marriage states, a large minority people committed to traditional notions of marriage will feel afraid to speak up for their views, lest they be punished in some way.

  2. Public schools will teach about gay marriage.

  3. Parents in public schools who object to gay marriage being taught to their children will be told with increasing public firmness that they don't belong in public schools and their views will not be accomodated in any way.

  4. Religous institutions will face new legal threats (especially soft litigation threats) that will cause some to close, or modify their missions, to avoid clashing with the government's official views of marriage (which will include the view that opponents are akin to racists for failing to see same-sex couples as married).

  5. Support for the idea "the ideal for a child is a married mother and father" will decline.

FBI "Trained Blogger" To Provoke Catholics & Conservatives

Attorneys for blogger Hal Turner claimed the FBI taught and trained him to incite conservative bloggers to make threats against lawmakers, leading to their arrests. The FBI taught him "what he could say that wouldn't be crossing the line," but what would whip up the passions of right-wingers to write something illegal.

"His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest," Orozco said.

Back when Connecticut Democrats thought they should be able to control the Catholic Church's finances, Turner said lawmakers should "obey the Constitution or die," an attempt to incite Catholics to say something that would lead to their arrest.

He said that the Chicago judges who tried to ban handguns "deserve to be killed."

The government confirmed that Turner "was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations," but an FBI spokesman wouldn't comment on his relationship with the FBI.

There is a whole bunch I would like to see AP tell us, like where Turner posted his blogs, all that he said, who responded, etc. But at least AP is reporting this outrage.

Thousands to Protest Eco-Tyranny, Government Over-Regulation and Over-Taxation

Sacramento --- In response to crippling government over-regulation and oppressive taxes, the Tea Party Patriots have announced that citizen patriots from across the state are set for a major protest on the steps of the California State Capitol, two weeks from today, on August 28, from noon to 5 p.m.

Describing the coming crowds as “the productive people of California,” the Patriots are expecting thousands of California taxpayers and business owners from around the state. Farmers, truck drivers, contractors, manufacturers, ranchers, loggers, and thousands of other taxpayers are expected to converge on the steps of the Capitol to protest oppressive government regulation, over-taxation and the Eco-Tyranny foisted upon the public by their government.

Hot topics will include:

A federal government shutdown of irrigation pumps in Central California which has turned vast swaths of once-fertile farmland into a man-made dustbowl. The shutdown has led to 40% unemployment in rural farming towns and thousands of citizens lining up for public assistance. The water shut-off has been pursued by environmentalists to protect the “endangered” 2-inch “delta smelt.” In effect, government action has turned California’s Central Valley farmers into an endangered species, by removing fertile farmland from cultivation and leaving farmers unable to pay their bills.

The far-reaching California “Global Warming Solutions Act” known as
AB 32, which leading scientists say will do nothing to stop global warming but instead costs $4,000 per California family, $50,000 per small business, and a total loss of business at $180 Billion.
This is a precursor of things to come across the nation with Cap & Trade.

High, oppressive taxes imposed by both the state and federal government. The Tea Party said it on April 15th, they said it on May 19th, and they’ll say it again: it’s time to lower taxes.

“Californians are in no mood for increasing government regulation and taxation. It’s time to lift the burdens of a bloated and corrupt government from the backs of the productive citizens of this state” said Mark Meckler, California Tea Party Patriots Co-Coordinator and one of the four National Coordinators for the Tea Party Patriots. “Sacramento is about to hear from the folks they’ve been keeping under their thumbs, on issues ranging from water to jobs to taxes to environmental over-regulation. Roxana Mayer claimed she was a pediatric primary care physician at Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's town hall meeting. There several problems here. She is not a doctor and has never been a doctor. She is a graduate student in social work. She does not live in Rep. Lee's district and she came to the meeting because she was an Obama state delegate and been notified of the meeting by email. Obama Accuses Doctors of Performing Unnecessary Amputations for Profit

We agree with President Obama on the importance of prevention. However, a recent example used to illustrate his important point was misleading. Surgeons are not paid $30,000 to $50,000 to amputate a diabetic’s foot. Medicare pays a surgeon, on average, from $541.72 to $708.71 for one of two procedures involving a foot amputation. It is possible that the total bill, hospital stay, rehabilitation, prosthesis, etc. may approach the larger amount mentioned.

In the case of tonsillectomies, a patient is referred to a surgeon after medication therapy has proven to be ineffective. Actually, the medical profession itself recognized questions about utilization and appropriateness of tonsillectomies and took action by developing clinical guidelines, which has resulted in a sharp decline in the rate of tonsillectomies.

These types of examples create the impression that physicians are motivated by payment levels rather than what is best for patients. The AMA will continue to stress to our elected leaders that physicians are dedicated to putting patients first and optimizing health care quality.

In USA Today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer both accused vocal opponants of the "Health Care Reform" bill as using lies and intimidation to drown out lawmakers supportive of the bill and being "un-American." Here is the direct quote:

Health Care Reform Debacle: What the heck is going on?

A recent article from our friend over at Self Evident Truths does a great job of explaining what's going on with the Health Care debacle.

Healthcare Battles
The debate over socialized medicine certainly took the front seat this past week. Without rehashing all of the details, or beating a dead horse, here are some of the stories that caught my attention.

Steamrolling Along
If the current Congress is known for anything besides bankrupting the country, it will be known for its strong-arm tactics to pass questionable and expensive legislation as quickly as possible. While Nancy Pelosi couldn't quite reach the necessary votes to pass the healthcare bill, she and Obama succeeded in getting the bill out of key committees before the summer recess. (Breitbart)

For those who oppose the bill, I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the bill won't be reconsidered until September or October, leaving our representatives at the mercy of the people in their states. The bad news is that the bill will be reconsidered in September or October.

At least Congress slowed down enough on this bill to take a vacation. Maybe some of our representatives will actually read it while at the beach. Would that be too much to ask of them? Apparently.

Opposing Voices
Yesterday, I posted a rant video of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow attacking Republicans for daring to speak up against the Holy Healthcare Act of 2009. (I think that is the current name of the bill. The name's changed so many times in the past month it's difficult to keep up.) Here are some prime examples of the concerns Barbara Boxer's well-dressed protesters have with the bill:

Under Section 1401, a Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research would be set up, creating a bureaucracy through which federal employees could determine whether any treatment is "comparatively effective" for any individual based on the cost, likely success and probably the years left in life.

It also..."covers abortions, transsexual surgeries, encourages counseling as to how many children you should have, whether you should increase the interval between children."The plan would allow...for the collection of information about individuals' health records, both "published and unpublished," and recommend policies for public access to data.

What does this mean for you and me? Under the current version of the healthcare bill, a government agency, with no oversight and no voter control, will have power to determine what treatments we can and cannot receive based on cost, likely success of treatment, and age. It's certainly no wonder why some of the old folks in the country are starting to worry about this bill. At least they dress well when going to protests.

Yet, in the same section, the bill would cover costs for abortions and transsexual surgeries. Think about that one for a minute. Besides the moral concerns, the bill creates protected classes withing the healthcare system. Women who want abortions and people who want to change their sex will receive preferential treatment.

The adage that some people are more equal than others will certainly hold true in this case.

There's more. The bill would give government the authority to determine how many children a couple can have and how long they must wait in between. Is this really the role of government, to administer national birth control? I don't know. It just sounds so...Chinese to me. At least the abortionists will be happy.

The bill would also remove doctor-patient privilege - making your medical records available to government agencies. I can conceive of no argument where such a thing would be desirable. Ostensibly, this would allow certain government agencies to streamline a person's healthcare process. In reality, this would violate privacy and lead to future abuses of government's authority.

Do you know what we used to call governments that dictated what its citizens could and could not do? We used to call them dictatorships.

Stifling Debate
Perhaps the most egregious news this past week is the Left's response to protests against the healthcare bill.First off is this from President Obama himself:

"But I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking." (Breitbart)

Notice how smarmy Obama is in this video. I ask, is this any way to run a democratic republic? Is this any way for the President of the United States to act and speak? Did he really say what we all heard him say?




Take out the bull horns folks, we have a lot of talking to do.

Along these same lines, White House Deputy Chief of staff had this to say about those who dared protest against healthcare:

If you [meaning Pro-Obamacare Democrats in Congress] get hit, we will punch back twice as hard,” Messina said, according to an official who attended the meeting. (Politico)

That's also a basis for good government - quell the opposition with strong-arm tactics. In response, what do Democrats do? They close the doors on public meetings and push protesters out of the way. This video comes from Tampa, Florida.




Is this how the system is supposed to work? Of course, congressional Democrats aren't to be thwarted by a few protesters. They vow to have their way with healthcare whether we like it or not, or whether what they do is quite in keeping with congressional procedures:

The saving grace in all of this (was that phrase too religious?) lies in the continued will of Americans everywhere to keep the fires of protest going. As a model, here's a group who take on Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter, a practice, by the way, with which I heartily agree. Specter should be booed wherever he appears.




We have only a few weeks left to let our Congress know that the healthcare bill is truly a bad idea. Yet, I'm afraid that this Congress will claim yet another distinction - the most power-hungry Congress ever - and pass the bill despite the best interests of Americans.

Grassroots or Astroturf? Democrats Slander the People that Surround Them

I for one was quite upset with Obama's Press Secretary's and Nancy Pelosi's accusations that all of the recent citizen protests at Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings are actually being done by people paid off by insurance companies and Conservative groups. It could not be further from the truth. The People are sick of BOTH parties spending us into debt to pad their own careers. And while liberal groups are notoriously hiring activists to hold signs, knock doors and fill meetings (just do a quick job search on Craigslist for "politics"), these protestors are taking time off of work and family with home-made signs to protest what they see as a government gone far astray from their constitutional limits. The liberal "grassroots" protestors are not sacrificing anything, they are handed signs to hold and paid for their time.

Nancy Pelosi wrote an introduction for MoveOn.org's book. Pelosi teamed up with Moveon.org to get Iraq surrender legislation passed in the House in 2007.

Update! SEIU unionist thugs beat protesters at the order of our Dear Leader:



An attorney for the victim claimed: "The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back... The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo."

Obama said: "I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking, I just want them to get out of the way! I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking!"

They then let the guy go, as they slam the door shut."

The White House recently threatened dissenting voters: "If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard," said White House aid Messina.

“What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics,” said Baird, D-Vancouver. “I mean that very seriously.”


Protesters were also beaten at the St. Louis town hall meeting for socialized healthcare, and police arrested protesters who wouldn't silent themselves. Witnesses say thugs beat conservative protesters and used racial slurs. Police used pepper spray and arrested protesters who didn't settle down. A Post-Dispatch reporter was arrested for taking pictures of the scene.

Lest We Forget: Animal Farm in America

I believe most American children are required to read Orwell's Animal Farm at some point in their public education, but how many of us remember it?

Old Major calls a meeting of all the animals in the big barn. He announces that he may die soon and relates to them the insights he has gathered in his life. Old Major tells the animals that human beings are the sole reason that “No animal in England is free” and that “The life of an animal is misery and slavery.” Therefore the animals must take charge of their destiny by overthrowing Man in a great Rebellion. He relates his dream of rebellion.

Old Major dies soon after the meeting and the other animals prepare for the Rebellion under Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer’s leadership. One night, Mr. Jones passes out drunk, creating the perfect opportunity for the animals to rebel. They are so hungry that they break into the store-shed. When Jones and his men try to whip them into submission, the animals run them off the farm. The animals burn all reminders of their former bondage but agree to preserve the farmhouse “as a museum.” Snowball changes the name of the farm to “Animal Farm” and comes up with Seven Commandments, which are to form the basis of Animalism. They are:
1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animals shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. 7. All animals are equal.

The pigs milk the cows, and then the animals go out to begin the harvest. When they return, the milk has disappeared mysteriously. The first harvest is a great success. The animals adhere to the tenets of Animalism happily, and with good result. Each animal works according to his ability and gets a fair share of food.

Every Sunday, Snowball and Napoleon lead a meeting of all the animals in the big barn. The pigs are the most intelligent animals, so they think up resolutions for the other animals to debate. Soon after, the pigs set up a study-center for themselves in the harness-room. Snowball embarks on various campaigns for social and economic improvement. Napoleon opposes whatever Snowball does. Because most of the animals lack the intelligence to memorize the Seven Commandments, Snowball reduces them to the single maxim, “Four legs good, two legs bad.” The sheep take to chanting this at meetings.

As time goes by, the pigs increase their control over the animals and award themselves increasing privileges. They quell the animals’ questions and protests by threatening Mr. Jones’s return. During this time, Napoleon also confiscates nine newborn puppies and secludes them in a loft in order to “educate” them.

By late summer, Snowball’s and Napoleon’s pigeon-messengers have spread news of the Rebellion across half of England. Animals on other farms have begun lashing out against their human masters and singing the revolutionary song “Beasts of England.” Jones and other farmers try to recapture Animal Farm but fail. The animals celebrate their victory in what they call “The Battle of the Cowshed.”

The animals agree to let the pigs make all the resolutions. Snowball and Napoleon continue to be at odds and eventually clash over the windmill. Snowball wants to build a windmill in order to shorten the work week and provide the farm electricity, but Napoleon opposes it. Napoleon summons nine fierce dogs (the puppies he trained) to run Snowball off the farm. Napoleon announces that Sunday meetings will cease and that the pigs will make all the decisions in the animals’ best interest. At this point, Boxer takes on his own personal maxims, “I will work harder” and “Napoleon is always right.” In the spring, Napoleon announces plans to build the windmill, claiming that it was his idea all along—rewriting history.

Building the windmill forces the animals to work harder and on Sundays. Shortages begin to occur, so Napoleon opens up trade with the human world. Through Squealer, he lies that no resolutions against interaction with humans or the use of money had ever been passed. Napoleon enlists Whymper to be his intermediary, and the pigs move into the farmhouse. Squealer assures the animals that there is no resolution against this, but Clover and Muriel discovers that one of the resolutions has been changed to: “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.” Squealer convinces her that there was never a resolution against beds at all.

One night, strong winds shake the farm and the animals awake to discover the windmill destroyed. Napoleon blames Snowball and sentences the expelled pig to death.

In the winter, as conditions become worse on Animal Farm, Napoleon deceives the human world into thinking Animal Farm is prospering. He signs a contract for a quota of four hundred eggs per week, inciting a hen rebellion that results in several deaths. Around the same time, Napoleon begins negotiating with Frederick and Pilkington to sell Animal Farm’s store of timber. He also spreads propaganda against Snowball, claiming that Snowball was always a spy and a collaborator while Napoleon was the true hero of the Battle of the Cowshed, and Squealer warns against Snowball’s secret agents.

Four days later, Napoleon holds an assembly in which he makes several animals confess to treachery and then has the dogs execute them. The dogs try to get Boxer to confess but leave him alone when they cannot overpower him. Afterwards, Clover and some other animals huddle together on a hill overlooking the farm. They reminisce about Animalism’s ideals and consider how much they differ from the violence and terror of Napoleon’s reign. They sing “Beasts of England,” but Squealer informs them that the song is useless now that the Rebellion is completed and that it is now forbidden. The new anthem begins with the lyrics: “Animal Farm, Animal Farm, / Never through me shalt thou come to harm!”

Another commandment is changed to read: “No animal shall kill any other animal without cause.” Clover and Muriel convince themselves that the commandment has always been this way. Squealer begins reading the animals statistics regularly to convince them that production is increasing. Napoleon seldom appears in public. The animals now call him “our Leader, Comrade Napoleon.” They attribute all misfortunes to Snowball and all success and luck to Napoleon.

Napoleon continues to negotiate with the farmers and eventually decides to sell the timber to Mr. Pilkington. At last, the windmill is finished and named “Napoleon Mill.” Soon after, Napoleon announces that he will sell the timber to Frederick, quickly changing his allegiance and disavowing his earlier vilification of Frederick. Napoleon says that Pilkington and Snowball have been collaborating. Frederick pays for the timber in fake cash, and the next morning, Frederick and his men invade the farm and blow up the windmill. The animals manage to chase the humans off, though many die or are injured in what they call “The Battle of the Windmill.”

After the battle, the pigs discover a case of whisky in the farmhouse. They drink to excess and soon, Squealer reports that Napoleon is dying and, as his last action, has made the consumption of alcohol punishable by death. But Napoleon recovers quickly and then sends Whymper to procure manuals on brewing alcohol. Squealer changes another commandment to “No animal shall drink alcohol to excess.”

Napoleon plans to build a schoolhouse for the thirty-one young pigs he has parented. Towards the end of the winter, Napoleon begins increasing propaganda to distract the animals from inequality and hardship. He creates special “Spontaneous Demonstrations” in which the animals march around and celebrate their triumphs.
In April, Napoleon declares the farm a Republic and is elected unanimously as President. The animals continue to work feverishly, most of all Boxer. One day, Boxer collapses while overexerting himself. Napoleon promises to send him to the veterinarian in Willingdon. A few days later, a horse-slaughterer takes Boxer away in his van. The animals are none the wiser until Benjamin reads the lettering on the side of the van. A few days later, Squealer reports that Boxer died in the hospital despite receiving the best possible care. He claims that Boxer’s last words glorified Animal Farm and Napoleon. He also claims that the van belongs to the veterinarian, who recently bought it from the horse slaughterer and had not yet managed to paint over the lettering. Napoleon promises to honor Boxer with a special banquet. But the pigs use the money from his slaughter to buy a case of whisky, which they drink on the day appointed for the banquet.

Years go by, and though Animal Farm’s population has increased, only a few animals that remember the Rebellion remain. Conditions are still harsh despite technological improvements. The pigs and dogs continue to do no manual labor, instead devoting themselves to organizational work. One day, Squealer takes the sheep out to a deserted pasture where, he says, he is teaching them a song. On the day the sheep return, the pigs walk around the yard on their hind legs as the sheep chant, “Four legs good, two legs better.” The other animals are horrified. Clover consults the barn wall again. This time Benjamin reads to her. The Seven Commandments have been replaced with a single maxim: “All animals are equal / But some animals are more equal than others.”

The pigs continue the longstanding pattern of awarding themselves more and more privileges. They buy a telephone and subscribe to magazines. They even wear Jones’s clothing. One night, Napoleon holds a conciliatory banquet for the farmers. Pilkington makes a speech in which he says he wants to emulate Animal Farm’s long work hours and low rations. Napoleon announces that the farm will be called “Manor Farm” again, the animals will call each other “Comrade” no longer, and they no longer will march ceremoniously past Old Major’s skull (a practice he denies understanding). He also declares that the farm’s flag will be plain green, devoid of the symbols of the Rebellion. As the animals peer through the windows to watch the humans and pigs play poker, they cannot distinguish between them.

Obama, Liberal Democrats Slander Grassroots Movement Protesting Obamacare

The DNC, led by Barack Obama, is fueling media lies that the Townhall protesters of Government Health Care are funded by private insurance companies. All across America, grassroots protesters speaking out in the Soviet-style townhall meetings, in which liberals lie to the American public to buy socialised healthcare.

We know the truth. We know that Democrats want people to wait in line. They want the disabled and elderly at the back of the line. They want doctors to refuse service. They will require the elderly to be counseled every few months to stop medical treatment and just die. This is all in the books, written down, plain as ink.

Fact is, Obama's Youth are flooding the townhall meetings to drown out opposition. Here is proof. Questions must be submitted in advanced, approved by big brother, and then they are paraphrased. All we can do to be heard is heckle.

Conservatives made their voices heard at the town hall meeting held by Rep. Mike Thompson in Napa today. Thompson closed the session to the press and forbid photography and video recording. All questions were submitted in advanced and Thompson picked out his favorite and paraphrased them. Grassroots protesters crashed the party, however, letting our corrupt leaders that the proposed socialized healthcare reform is unacceptable.

Thompson spouted outrageous lies in recent meetings, telling his constituents that "nobody’s forcing you to go into any sort of government program."

The White House has led a massive attack on these grassroots protesters across the country, calling it "mob rule." The DNC claimed that the protesters are funded by health insurance companies. The media naturally repeated the lie.

AP repeated the White House attack on Drudgereport for reporting a video of Obama saying his healthcare plan with eliminate private insurance. AP and the White House said his quotes were taken out of context. Sorry, liberals. Video doesn't lie.

At a recent meeting, Sen. Arlen Specter faced blunt opposition as he attempted to defend socialized healthcare. Things are getting so tense for members of Congress that at least one member of Congress has suspended town hall meetings because he "felt they would be pointless." Steny Hoyer gets confronted by a man claiming to be a registered democrat about the healthcare issue at a town hall event. The man is clearly frustrated with Hoyer -- who in typical politician fashion keeps on his happy face and motors on through. Seemingly incapable of conversing with one of his loyal subjects, the man just unloads, calling Hoyer a 'liar' and lashes out at the President for rushing healthcare -- but he took six months to decide which dog to get for his kids. Your Turn: The People Speak Out About Health Care Reform and Congress

Democrat leadership has failed to push through their infamous "Health Care Reform" (read: government-run, European-style universal health care) bill before the August break, despite Speaker Pelosi, Leader Reid and President Obama's many attempts to bribe and coerce our representatives (especially Blue-Dog Democrats) to quickly pass the very expensive and still little-understood package.

Public (and some congress(wo)men's concerns) have centered around the fact that despite having passed through committees and being heavily promoted by President Obama and his media cohorts, no one (especially any of the congress(wo)men) has had enough time to read through the over 1,000 pages of the "Health Care Reform" bill. The details that have surfaced from this monstrous legislation border on draconian: the abolition of insurance companies in favor of Medicare/Veteran’s health care style programs, increased taxes for upper and middle class families to support the millions of illegal aliens that will be covered who don't pay any taxes, coming restrictions on treatment for the elderly, obese, women with several children, etc...

Since Congress failed to sneak their bill into law by their deadline yesterday, you can bet Democrat leadership will be after your congress(wo)man throughout August, bribing and threatening them to get in the party line and vote for the bill, regardless of what their constituents say.

This is where you come in!

Though some representatives will never listen (like Senator Feinstein (D-CA) who recently had a group of concerned retirees aged 55 to 87 kicked out of her office and arrested for refusing to leave before talking to her about health care reform), other representatives will be holding town hall meetings to assess the wants and needs of their constituents before voting (like Congressman Ryan (R-MN) who plans on holding several town hall meetings with his constituents and actually reading the "Health Care Reform" bill over his break).

Make your representatives listen to you! That's their job! Call, write, visit your representatives and ask them about the "Health Care Reform" Bill. Also ask them if they plan on reading the whole thing before voting on it.
